Singapore has a vast selection of theme parks, but Universal Studios Singapore is definitely one of the best experiences the nation has to offer, for the young and the young-at-heart.
A Brief History
The park’s construction began in 2008 and after two years was open to the public in 2010. Some of the most significant rides of the park however were still under construction, with some attractions, such as the Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster, not being fully operational till 2015.
Park Layout
The park’s size measures just less than 50 acres and is divided into seven themed-zones, which are each based on a popular franchise or a famous place. These zones are Far Far Away, Hollywood, Ancient Egypt, New York, Sci-Fi City, The Lost World, and Madagascar.
Notable Rides and Shows
The BattleStar Galactica is the tallest duelling roller-coaster in the world where guests get to choose between the Human coaster and the Cylon one, with each providing a unique experience. Transformers: The Ride is also widely regarded as one of the best theme-park attractions in the world. If you happen to be at a service apartment in Singapore situated nearby, like Somerset Bencoolen Singapore, be sure to check out the park.
The Restaurants
Each zone has one or more themed restaurants, such as the Starbot Cafe: Human Refuelling Centre in Sci-Fi City and the Discovery Food Court in The Lost World, modelled after the Discovery Centre of the original Jurassic Park movie.
