What to Expect
This gallery is housed in two national monuments, namely the former Supreme Court and City Hall and is only a four-minute walk from hotels like Grand Park City Hall. This site features varying exhibitions and has over 9,000 artworks making it the biggest public collection of modern art from Singapore and Southeast Asia in the world!
Planning a Visit
The gallery is in the Civic District within easy reach of hotels in Singapore city centre. Open from 10:00am to 7:00pm, this site can be accessed by taxi or by the MRT (City Hall, Raffles Place or Clarke Quay MRT stations); alternatively, you can take bus #130 to the Coleman Street entrance or bus # 32, 51 or 63 to nearby Peninsula Plaza.
Guided Tours
To fully appreciate the collection of the National Gallery Singapore, book one of its tours. A great way to see key masterpieces would be to take the Highlights of the Gallery tour which includes insights on the historic buildings too. Keep in Mind
Remember, that you should not touch any of the artwork on display; while there’s no dress code, it’s advisable to bring something warm since exhibits are in climate-controlled spaces. Additionally, keep in mind that you can’t bring food and drink into the galleries and flash photography or videography aren’t allowed either.
